The existing software develpment lifecycle and operating model of the payments squad did not cater for much of the work and questions being raised by the business. A shaping team was needed in order to provide clarity on technical and design options, risks and value proposition.

Challenge

How to deliver clarity from the business to the development teams more rapidly using core product principles.

When shaping is not carried out successfully, the development teams spend more time trying to solve the problem than is necessary and are forced to make unanticipated trade-offs.

Outcomes

An end to end process documented in Confluence for the shaping team to pick up and follow. The process considered wider objectives taken from the business and resulted in a product brief for product managers to develop further
